What to do |
How to do it |
| A. |
Before You Set Up a Password |
If you have ever been a DaFIS User in the past, you will not establish a new password. You will retain the same password you used before. If you have forgotten that password, you must call the DaFIS Help Desk at (530) 754-6780.
The password that you set up when you obtained your UCD Login ID is not used by DaFIS. You must establish your DaFIS password through a separate process; however, you may choose to establish the same password in DaFIS if it meets the criteria.

Getting Notification that Your User Account has Been Approved |
Once your FIS User document has been completely approved in the system, an e-mail with instructions for your DaFIS password will be sent to you, the new user. You will have a 48 hour window in which to set-up your new password.
Note: If you use an e-mail address other than your standard UCD account (user@ucdavis.edu), you should have already redirected your UCD Mail ID (See Part D of Step 1 for instructions).
If, for some reason, you do not receive your e-mail message and you know that your FIS User document has been approved, you can access the New User Registration page from here.

Registering Your DaFIS Password |
In order to set up your password, you will need to know your Employee ID number. Your Employee ID number is not your Social Security Number. If you don't know what your number is, check with your department's payroll representative.
Your password will need to conform to the following criteria:
- It must be different from your logon ID
- It cannot be a password you have used for TP before
- It must be 7-8 characters in length
- It must contain a number
- It must contain a letter
- It must contain at least 1 of the following characters:
$_!():<=>?/-,.[]{}^%~
(other special characters cannot be used)

Important Things to Remember |
Your login ID is the same as your signature on DaFIS documents. This means that you are responsible for all documents created or approved under your login ID. Read "Why Shouldn't I Share My Password" and never let anyone else use DaFIS under your login ID.
If you would like to change your password at any time, you can use the Change DaFIS Passwords page.
