Access the AFS Control Panel |
- Login with an account that has administrative privileges on the computer.
- Add the Admin account to the AFS Client Admins group located in the Local Users and Groups. This will allow you to modify the AFS Client.

Configure Advanced Tab |
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Enter these settings:
- By default, the Cache Size field is 98304 KB (96 MB). This is the amount of space the cache file will occupy on your disk. If needed, you can reduce the cache size; however, settings lower than 20 MB will reduce the performance improvement provided by the AFS client.
- In the Cache Path you can select the drive letter for the cache file. The name of the cache file will be AFSCache. You can also select a specific path for the cache file, but the path must already exist.
- Leave the other settings at their default.

Configure General Tab |
- Click on the General tab.
- Leave all of the check box options unchecked.
- Still on the General tab, check the Client Status section to make sure the client is running. If not, click on the Start Service button.
- Click on the Drive Letters tab. Click on the Advanced button and highlight the listed Submounts and click Remove. Click OK.
- You are now ready to map the Q Drive.
If the AFS Client service does not start, check the AFS Troubleshooting guide and read the Cannot Start AFS Client Service section.
