Using DaFIS Training

DaFIS Training may be installed on any computer on the UCD network so that new users are able to practice using DaFIS on their own. If you need assistance, contact a local technical support staff member.

Creating a desktop shortcut to DaFIS Training on a computer that already has DaFIS TP Production installed on it:

1. Open My Computer.
2. Go to the Q: Drive.
3. Open the DaFIS folder.
4. Open the Install folder.
5. Open the Manual folder.
6. Open the Shortcuts folder.
7. Copy the "DaFIS Training" shortcut to the desktop.

Installing DaFIS Training on a computer that does NOT have DaFIS TP Production installed on it:

1. Run the DaFIS Installer following the regular instructions (Automated or Manual).
2. When you get to the screen that says "Select Items to Install" be sure to check the box next to DaFIS Training.
3. If you do not wish to install DaFIS Production on the computer, uncheck that box.
4. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Note: If a user is unable to log in with one of the trainee IDs and passwords , there may be a firewall setting adjustment needed on the computer. Some departments have a firewall rule to allow connections with fis-tp.ucdavis.edu (i.e., the DaFIS TP Production database), but not fis-test.ucdavis.edu (i.e., the database server for all of the other TP instances, including Training). Refer to the firewall FAQ for more information.
