DaFIS Software Compatibility

The DaFIS Transaction Processing system is built on two vendors' software systems, Oracle for the database and Compuware's Uniface for the transaction processing graphical users' interface. To receive continuing support from Oracle and Compuware we must continue to upgrade these packages as these vendors drop support for older versions of their software. As these vendors continue to upgrade their packages they are also changing the client system requirements for running the new versions.

Below is a list of system software requirements, compatibility issues, & version numbers for the current DaFIS Transaction Processing and DaFIS Decision Support releases:

Supported Operating Systems:
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Microsoft Windows Vista Use the Manual Installation method.
Macintosh with a Windows emulation tool, such as Virtual PC software (a version that emulates one of the versions of Windows listed above) or a Pentium DOS hardware card. The Windows emulation method must meet the PC hardware and software requirements for DaFIS.
Operating Systems Not Supported:
Microsoft Windows ME	Accounting & Financial Services does not support this platform.
Microsoft Windows 95 Microsoft Windows NT ver. 3.51	Compuware no longer supports these operating systems under the current version of Uniface.
Microsoft Windows 98 Microsoft Windows NT ver. 4.0	No vendor support for operating systems security updates. Use prohibited by the university Cyber-Safety Program.
MacOS	Compuware does not support this platform natively with Oracle SQL*Net. Can use a Windows emulation tool - see above.
