    Q. What does it mean when a class is listed as "Priority Enrollment Only"? Back to Top
    A. The day prior to open enrollment of training classes is reserved for priority enrollment. People who have been on the waiting list for a previous section of a class and did not make it into the class are given priority enrollment for a 24 hour window.

    Q. The enrollment system says I have taken a class that I never attended. How can I enroll in a new section? Back to Top
    A. Click on the blue button labeled "Click Here to View Enrollment History & Certification". That will take you to a screen that accurately reflects your complete training history. If you enrolled in a class, but did not attend, then a de-enroll option will appear next to that class. Click that option, and you will be able to enroll in a new section of the class.

    Q. How does the waiting list work? Back to Top
    A. The Waiting List serves a couple of functions:
    • When a spot becomes available in the class, the next person on the Waiting List will automatically be moved into the class. You will receive an e-mail letting you know that you are enrolled.
    • Anyone remaining on the Waiting List will get priority enrollment for the next section of that class. You will get an e-mail informing you that you have a 24 hour window to enroll before the class is opened up to campus.
The waiting lists also allow us to track the demand for a specific class, and schedule additional sections if necessary.

    Q. Do I need to take DaFIS classes before becoming a DaFIS user? Back to Top
    A. No, DaFIS classes are not required before becoming a DaFIS user. For information about and complete instructions for gaining access to both the DaFIS Transaction Processing and Decision Support systems, please see How Do I . . . Create an FIS User.

The DaFIS classes are designed to complement any training you receive in your department on DaFIS. The classes provide an overview of the DaFIS system and show you how to complete some of the various documents.

    Q. Can I sign up for other classes when I'm enrolled, but haven't taken, the prerequisite class? Back to Top
    A. Since the prerequisite class will give you the necessary information and overview you will need for the later classes, we require physical attendance in the prerequisite class first. As soon as you have attended the prerequisite class, the on-line enrollment system will allow you to sign up for other classes.

    Q. If I've taken the introductory DaFIS training through Temporary Employment Services, do I still have to take FIS 101? Back to Top
    A. If you would like to take any of the DaFIS courses for which FIS 101 is listed as a prerequisite, you will need to take our FIS 101 course first. The FIS 101 course covers some material not covered in the DaFIS prep class offered by Temporary Employment Services. In order to ensure that all of our students have been introduced to the same material, we require completion of FIS 101 prior to enrolling in the more advanced courses.

    Q. Can I just "show up" for a class? Back to Top
    A. We do not recommend that students just "show up" for a class. There may not be seats available and you will not be able to complete the class exercises. It is best to get on a waiting list and you will be given priority enrollment for a future class if you cannot get into the class you are trying to get in to.

    Q. I can't make a class I'm scheduled for. What do I need to do? Back to Top
    A. Please make sure that you de-enroll as soon as possible from the class section you will be unable to attend. This will open up a seat for another student who may be trying to get into the class. And, of course, good things come around, so maybe another student will do this sometime when you are trying to get into a class!

    Q. I've attended several A&FS courses and am expecting a certificate. How can I get one? Back to Top
    A. The training certificate is a list of A&FS classes you have completed. It can be printed from the DaFIS web site once you have taken at least one A&FS class. When you access the A&FS Enrollment Page, click on "View Enrollment History and Certification". At the bottom of your class history, you'll see a link that says "Click here to generate a printable version of your certificate." The certificate process updates nightly, so if you take a class one day, and want that class included on the certificate, you'll need to wait at least one business day to print the certificate.

    Q. Will I receive a DaFIS User ID and password after taking my first DaFIS class? Back to Top
    A. No, DaFIS user IDs and passwords are not distributed in any DaFIS classes. For instructions on gaining access to both the DaFIS Transaction Processing and Decision Support systems, please see How Do I . . . Create an FIS User.

    Q. Why can I not enroll in classes that appear on your training calendar? Back to Top
    A. There are various reasons why you may not be able to enroll in classes listed on our training calendar:

    1. The class date is more than 2 weeks away. Classes usually do not open for enrollment until 2-3 weeks before the class date.

    2. You have not met the class prerequisites.

    3. You were previously signed up to attend the class, but did not attend. You must de-enroll from the class before you will be able to enroll in a different section of the same class.

    4. The class is currently available for Priority Enrollment. People who have been on the waiting list for a previous section of a class and did not make it into the class are given priority enrollment for a 24-hour window.

    Q. How can I get Adobe Acrobat Reader, for downloading class handouts? Back to Top
    A. To view PDF files in your browser, you need to have Acrobat Reader installed. Click here for installation instructions.
