Password Information

Establishing Your DaFIS TP Password

Once you have a UCD login ID, a DaFIS Transaction Processing (TP) user must give you TP access (see Creating an FIS User). Once you are approved as a new TP user (see Creating an FIS User, Step 3), you have 48 hours in which to establish your TP password.

The Kerberos password that you set up when you obtained your UCD Login ID is used for logging into DaFIS Decision Support (DS), but it is not automatically used by TP. If your Kerberos password meets the TP password criteria, you can establish the same password for TP.

Having trouble picking a password? Find that you forget them easily? We have a few hints on selecting memorable passwords that might help.

Password Sharing

Your login ID is attached to DaFIS documents you create or approve, and is same as your signature. Per UC Davis Policy and Procedure Manual Section 330-11
"All users of campus systems are accountable for transactions processed under their user IDs. The sharing of passwords and user accounts is strictly prohibited."
Passwords should never be shared with anyone, including network administrators and supervisors. Read "Why Shouldn't I Share My Password" for solutions to the most common reasons given for sharing user ID or password.

Since your password must never be shared with anyone else, you should change your password immediately if someone else finds out what it is or if you are concerned that the password has been compromised in any way.

Changing Your DaFIS TP Password

You can change your TP password at any time on the Change Your DaFIS TP Password page, as long as you know your current password. If you have forgotten your password, contact the Help Desk to set up a new one.

Note: DaFIS users do not need to change passwords if moving to a new department. An FIS User document should be processed to update the employee's organization code, but your login and password remain the same.

Password Expiration

In TP, passwords expire once a year, for security purposes. Your expiration date is indicated on the Welcome to the FIS screen, when logging into TP. Before your password expires, TP provides several advisory messages and the opportunity to set up a new password. If you miss the deadline for setting up a new password, please visit the Change Your DaFIS TP Password page.
